LCVI is an amazing place because of our strong community, and we are so proud of our students for the grit, growth, and gratitude they showed all year long. Across classrooms, co-op placements, clubs, teams, performances, competitions, and community events, rich learning was happening every day as students challenged themselves, discovered new strengths, and worked toward meaningful goals.This year was filled with special moments we will not soon forget, including Grade 9 Getaway, Matilda the Musical, the senior boys basketball buy-in quarter-final game, spirit days, Global Fusion Week, the 45th annual Road Race, special assemblies, Midnight on the Marsh semi-formal, athletic events, DECA achievements, the ski trip to Camp Fortune, Skills Competition, Career Fair, Special Olympics tournaments, the Spring Fling dance, Robotics, Carnival, Relay for Life, and so much more. Seeing students jump in, lead, persevere, reach their goals, and try something new, whether on a stage, on a team, in a club, in the classroom, or simply by showing up for a friend, was inspiring. We are grateful to our dedicated staff for the time, care, and energy they pour into creating these opportunities and supporting students every day. He faces all challenges with a determination to succeed and, if not successful, he picks himself back up again and keeps trying until he gets it right. Congratulations to Abdallah Aldarawsha on winning this award!<h3 class="editor-heading-h3">Waterloo Euclid Math Contest Results</h3>The Waterloo Euclid Math Contest official results arrived and LCVIs Grade 12 students got the highest score in our zone.  Our team score beat EVERY school in Kingston and a couple in Belleville by at least 14 points. Yuyue Feng, Liqi Su, JC Choi, and Jack Venditti posted awesome scores to secure this team win. Additionally, Yuyue got the highest score in Kingston with a whopping 77 out of 100!  This puts her in the top 3% of contestants. Congratulations on these amazing results!<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Happy Retirement!</h2><img src="/images/9630bf8a-efc2-40e7-92a9-7196a7e0562b?fingerprint=ppb20260626211250" alt="Retirement" width="798" height="585" style="width:798px;height:585px;display:inline-block">Congratulations and best wishes to two wonderful LCVI educators, Ms. Erica Wyncoll and Mrs. Martha Read-Gray and as they begin their well-deserved retirements.Mrs. Read-Gray retires after an incredible 38-year teaching career, including 27 years at LCVI as a guidance counsellor and English teacher. Ms. Wyncoll also celebrates 38 years in education, including 25 years with Limestone and four memorable years as part of LCVI’s English department.We are deeply grateful for the care, wisdom, and dedication they have shared with students, staff, and families over the years. She is known for her unwavering positivity, warm personality, and infectious sense of humour, which brighten the days of both staff and students alike. Dana has a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated, always greeting others with a smile and taking the time to connect. She does it all with warmth and a sense of humour that leaves people smiling and laughing, and on a particularly good day, clutching the wall for stability.Dana demonstrates an outstanding work ethic and takes tremendous pride in maintaining clean, safe, and organized learning environments. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support. This is a good time to celebrate everything you have accomplished over the past several months. You worked hard, took on challenges, learned new things and continued to grow. However you choose to spend your summer, I hope you make the most of the months ahead.To the graduating Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Whether your next step is college, university, an apprenticeship, the workforce or another pathway, I wish you every success in the years ahead.As families look ahead to September and the start of a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind. Ontario schools will continue to focus on helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing and math while preparing them for success beyond the classroom. Students in elementary schools will learn from the same core materials and benefit from a revised Kindergarten curriculum focused on foundational literacy, math and science skills. In Grade 7 and 8, updated History courses will include new mandatory content on the history of Black Canadians.In high schools, students in Grade 10 History will have new learning about Black history, the Holocaust and Holodomor. Students will also be required to demonstrate financial literacy as part of earning their high school diploma. To help provide clearer expectations and a more comprehensive picture of student achievement, high school students will complete written final exams during a dedicated exam period, and attendance and classroom participation will form part of their final grade. Limestone Students Earn Prestigious Scholarships, Including National Loran Honour

Limestone District School Board graduates have received significant scholarships to support their post-secondary education. Nathan KashiraKingston Secondary School (KSS) graduate Nathan Kashira has been selected as a <a href="https://loranscholar.ca/scholars/nathan-kashira/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" class="editor-link">2026 Loran Scholar</a>, out of more than 5,400 applicants across Canada. Of the 36 selected to become the Class of 2026, Nathan is among the nine from Ontario who were selected. Nathan owns and operates a drone photography and videography company. He also leads a church volunteer team dedicated to supporting the community through food security initiatives, sports programs, and social services. Candidates will be recommended by Napanee District Secondary School. Devan Maxwell  Goodyear Student Award  Established in 2002, the Goodyear Award provides an award to a graduating high school student from Lennox and Addington County, for the purpose of post-secondary education and training in technical education. Ryder Steven Punchard, NDSS  Rotary Club of Napanee Service Above Self Student Award Established in 2024, the Napanee Rotary “Service Above Self” Award recognizes one graduating student from each Lennox and Addington high school who is planning on attending post-secondary education. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census.
