LCVI Lancer Communication

June 2026

Admin Team Feb 2026 3

Dear students and families,

Thank you for a wonderful 2025–2026 school year! LCVI is an amazing place because of our strong community, and we are so proud of our students for the grit, growth, and gratitude they showed all year long. Across classrooms, co-op placements, clubs, teams, performances, competitions, and community events, rich learning was happening every day as students challenged themselves, discovered new strengths, and worked toward meaningful goals.

This year was filled with special moments we will not soon forget, including Grade 9 Getaway, Matilda the Musical, the senior boys basketball buy-in quarter-final game, spirit days, Global Fusion Week, the 45th annual Road Race, special assemblies, Midnight on the Marsh semi-formal, athletic events, DECA achievements, the ski trip to Camp Fortune, Skills Competition, Career Fair, Special Olympics tournaments, the Spring Fling dance, Robotics, Carnival, Relay for Life, and so much more. Seeing students jump in, lead, persevere, reach their goals, and try something new, whether on a stage, on a team, in a club, in the classroom, or simply by showing up for a friend, was inspiring. We are grateful to our dedicated staff for the time, care, and energy they pour into creating these opportunities and supporting students every day. We also thank our families for your ongoing support and partnership throughout the year.

We wish everyone a safe, restful, and joy-filled summer.

The Administration Team

Margaret Connelly, Elizabeth Yanch, Michelle Leake, & Adam Andrecyk

Congratulation to our Graduates!

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Last evening’s graduation ceremony was a lovely celebration of our students’ hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments. We are so proud of all that our graduates have achieved and excited to see the many ways they will continue to learn, grow, and make a positive difference in the world. We wish our graduating Lancers every success in the next chapter of their journey.

Several of our LCVI grads have received significant scholarships to support their post-secondary education. Well done, Lancers!

Staff Appreciation Thank You!

Staff Appreciation

Thank you to our wonderful families for your warm notes of appreciation and the delicious snacks and treats you provided for Staff Appreciation Day on June 3. Your kindness and generosity were truly appreciated. Everything was delicious, and our staff felt very cared for and valued.

Big thanks to Jimmy Hassan, LCVI parent and Pizza Pizza business owner on Bath Road, for generously providing our staff with a delicious pizza lunch again this year.

We are grateful to our families for your ongoing support and for the many ways you help make our school community so special.

Lancers in Action

Cooperative Education

Our co-op students continue to make us proud as they step into workplace settings with confidence, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn. Through these placements, they are building valuable skills, exploring future pathways, and stretching themselves in new and meaningful ways. We are grateful to our community partners for supporting these opportunities and helping our students grow through real-world experiences.

He faces all challenges with a determination to succeed and, if not successful, he picks himself back up again and keeps trying until he gets it right. Congratulations to Abdallah Aldarawsha on winning this award!

Happy Retirement!

Retirement

Congratulations and best wishes to two wonderful LCVI educators, Ms. Erica Wyncoll and Mrs. Martha Read-Gray and as they begin their well-deserved retirements.

Mrs. Read-Gray retires after an incredible 38-year teaching career, including 27 years at LCVI as a guidance counsellor and English teacher. Ms. Wyncoll also celebrates 38 years in education, including 25 years with Limestone and four memorable years as part of LCVI’s English department.

We are deeply grateful for the care, wisdom, and dedication they have shared with students, staff, and families over the years. On behalf of LCVI, we thank them for their lasting contributions and wish them every happiness in this exciting next chapter.

Congratulations to Dana Price

Dana PriceIt is with great pride to announce that our very own Dana Price was presented with the 2026 Barry C. O'Connor Award at the LDSB Board Office on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Dana is widely recognized as an exceptional and deeply valued member of our school community, consistently going above and beyond the expectations of her role as Caretaker at LCVI/Calvin Park. She is known for her unwavering positivity, warm personality, and infectious sense of humour, which brighten the days of both staff and students alike. Dana has a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated, always greeting others with a smile and taking the time to connect. She does it all with warmth and a sense of humour that leaves people smiling and laughing, and on a particularly good day, clutching the wall for stability.

She approaches even the most challenging and unpleasant tasks with professionalism, care, and attention to detail, consistently delivering work of the highest quality.

She regularly anticipates needs and steps in without being asked, whether helping colleagues, supporting students, preparing for events, improving classroom spaces, or solving problems quickly and effectively. Her efforts often have a meaningful and lasting impact on those around her.

Dana is also a natural leader and mentor. She willingly shares her knowledge, supports new staff members, and sets a high standard for others to follow. Her reliability, collaborative spirit, and ability to remain calm and effective in busy or challenging situations make her an indispensable part of our school's daily operations.

Beyond her professional contributions, Dana is deeply caring and selfless. She consistently goes out of her way to help others, both personally and professionally, demonstrating genuine empathy, kindness, and compassion.

Dana exemplifies dedication, initiative, teamwork, and caring in everything she does. Her positive energy, strong character, and unwavering commitment to supporting others make her truly deserving of this recognition and an outstanding recipient of the Barry C. O'Connor Excellence in Education Award.

Congratulations, Dana! We are incredibly proud of you and grateful for the countless ways you make our school community a better place every day.

Recognition Celebration

The annual LCVI Recognition Celebration was held earlier this month, bringing our school community together to celebrate an incredible year of extra-curriculars. This special event recognized the energy, heart, and determination our students have brought to clubs, athletics, and the arts. The Lancer Award honours individuals whose abilities, leadership skills, and commitment have contributed to the success of a team, club, or event, while the Torch Award recognizes students whose positive, dedicated, and enthusiastic attitude and participation have helped make these opportunities successful. Major Awards were presented to students who have made extraordinary contributions to athletics, extra-curricular activities, and school spirit. Thank you to our amazing staff for their ongoing support of the many extracurricular opportunities that help make LCVI such a vibrant school community.

Congratulations to everyone who was recognized, and a special shout-out to all of this year’s award winners!

Help Wanted! Bingo Volunteers Needed

We are still in need of a few more volunteers to run bingos. Please contact Paul Goldring (goldringp@limestone.on.ca) if you are interested in helping out or learning more. Funds raised help us to significantly reduce extra-curricular fees for all students at LCVI. The time commitment is not huge but the impact is significant for our school.
