LCVI Presents ...
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Something familiar,
Something peculiar,
Something for everyone,
A comedy tonight!
Loyalist Collegiate is staging the
hysterical, laugh out loud musical, A Funny thing Happened on the way to the
Forum. This musical was first done at LC in 1979. This year’s fantastic
production is being directed by two Queen’s Drama students, Amy Axford and
Rob Kempson - both of whom are LC grads! We are pleased that Queen’s students
are volunteering to assist in a variety of other capacities with this
delightful musical.
A Funny Thing first opened in New York in 1962 to rave reviews, with music
and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It is the story, set in Roman times, of
Hero, who is in love with the courtesan Philia. In order for the young
lovers to be united, Hero’s slave, Pseudolus resorts to tricks, hidden
identities and potions.
This musical showcases a wide range of talented, energetic students in all
grade levels and levels, from behind the scenes to the front of the house
and on stage. The fabulous pit band is being directed by our outstanding
music teacher Kendra Brennan. Laughter, comedy and great music will be
provided by our focussed and dedicated students. Don’t miss out on all the
fun!

The play will run Thursday, April 29, Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1.
Curtain time is 7:30 PM with tickets being available in the main office.
Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and seniors.
