You CAN Make a Difference ...on the School Council

School councils have been created to enhance students' learning through the cooperative efforts of parents, students, staff members, and others in the community. Your school council is an advisory body of volunteers who work together to provide ideas and opinions to help the principal, and sometimes the school district, to make the school a better place for learning.

Parents have a primary influence on their children's attitude towards school, their learning and their future success.  There are many ways parents make a difference in their children's success at school: talking with their children about their day at school, making sure there is a quiet place set aside to do homework, reading with their children, meeting with teachers, or volunteering in the school or on trips.  Good schools become even better when there is a strong connection with parents as part of the learning community.
